   Compost Production and Distribution Minimize

Materials Processing Ltd specialises in the production of high quality, pure organic compost from domestic greenwaste.  No additives such as pine bark or Bio-Solids are included in our product, the production of which is now BioGro® certified organic.  ( Laboratory Analysis )

The Composting Process:

Greenwaste is received and stockpiled at various recycling depots.

It is then shredded and allowed to settle for a period of time before screening.

After screening it is placed in windrows where the main composting process takes place.

Here it remains under controlled conditions, regularly turned to ensure the internal temperature maintains at a temperature of 63 degrees centigrade for an extended period to pasteurise the compost – ensuring any seeds that may be present are destroyed.

The completed compost is then screened a second time to refine or grade into various blended products.  It is then held in bulk silos where it remains until sold either in bulk or convenient 40L bags.

Benefits:

Compost is a unique and versatile product that possesses characteristics that make it superior to many 'traditional' horticultural and agricultural products.  The benefits of compost use include:

  • Improves the soil structure, porosity, and bulk density - creating a better plant root environment
  • Increases moisture infiltration and permeability of heavy soils - improving drainage and reducing erosion and runoff
  • Improves moisture holding capacity of light soils – reducing water loss and nutrient leaching
  • Improves and stabilises soil pH
  • Improves cation exchange capacity (CEC) of soils – improving their ability to hold nutrients for plant use
  • Supplies a variety of macro and micro nutrients
  • Supplies significant quantities of organic matter
  • Supplies beneficial micro-organisms to the oil – improving nutrient uptake and suppressing certain soil-borne diseases
  • Can bind and degrade certain pollutants.

Applications:

  • Applications for compost use include:
  •  Landscaping, garden bed preparation
  •  Nursery production
  •  Container potting mix
  •  Manufacture of topsoil/compost mixes
  •  Viticulture
  •  Horticulture
  •  Golf course maintenance – tee, green and divot mixes
  •  Arable crop production
  •  Erosion Management
